Obituary of Mia Rose McCaffrey

I am sorry if you never got to meet Mia Rose McCaffrey of Trumbull, CT. She was a vibrant and sweet 6 year old who passed away peacefully on the night of March 17th, 2017 with her mother, Marian holding her right hand and her father, Jim holding her left. She was loved by so many, but most fiercely by her 5 year old brother, James. "I love Mia most," he would often say. "I love her 1,000,000." Mia was as courageous and strong as she was optimistic and beautiful. Her crystal blue eyes were her defining feature and drew in any with the guts to stare her down. She was a natural born star, and when empowered could captivate an audience. There are three notable viral videos of her that are proof of this. The first is her, as a Kindergartener, along with her friend Caroline, leading Jane Ryan Elementary School in "Fight Song," by Rachel Platten at one of the school's Lion Den Meetings. The second is of her as the leading role in the music video for the song "Fighter" by Taylor Tote. Proceeds from the sale of the song on iTunes go directly to funding research for Childhood Cancers. Additionally, the music video has been nominated for awards at two Independent film festivals to date (Garden State Film Festival and the Toronto Independent Film Awards). Lastly, her toy review video entitled "Blind Grab Toy Challenge," showed her poise and ability to connect with an audience. She even wanted to call the YouTube Channel, "Mia's Family Hug." Mia was a natural care giver. She would always look out for anyone who seemed shy, apprehensive or scared. She had a sense for it, most notably with her brother who frequently would find Mia's arm or hand on his shoulder. His strength comes from her. This strength was also significant for her parents, because she showed them what true power was. Even in the final moments of life, she was determined to fight without being held or coddled, despite their attempts. They are so proud of the person she was. Mia's great grandmother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends will always share the very special gift of having known her and loved her. Everyone who ever got the chance to meet her will know that there are not enough words in any language to describe this precious girl. She lived up to the name MIA and will live on past her physical form, because she will continue to help us all #MakeItAmazing. Please join us in celebrating her life. There will be a wake at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home at 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Additionally, there will be a Celebration of Life funeral service at Saint Pius X Catholic Church at 834 Brookside Drive in Fairfield, CT on March 22, 2017, at 10:00 am. Both are open to the public. The family will have a private burial for her at Nichols Farm Cemetery in Trumbull, CT following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please donate to one of the following charities and/or non-profits. Each helped Mia and her family tremendously. #MakeItAmazing for someone else.
