Obituary of Catherine Romano

Catherine Garrone Romano, age 84, of Shelton, beloved wife of Sigismondo (Gino) Romano, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Asti, Italy on June 27, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Livio and Aurelia Garrone. Catherine was a retired accounting clerk for the Stamford Board of Education. Mom was always there to take care of her family and friends in time of need. You could always count on Catherine to have something special cooking in her kitchen, especially for her grandchildren who she loved to look after. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. The love she gave will continue to live in the hearts of all who cared for her. Catherine will be deeply missed. In addition to her beloved husband of 60 years, Gino, survivors include three loving children, Lori-Ann Capitelli and her husband Peter of Stamford, Perry Romano and his wife Donna of Trumbull and Anthony Romano and his wife Annemarie of Shelton, seven cherished grandchildren, Steven Capitelli, Dana Hearty and her husband JJ, Nicole, Matthew, James, Michael and Joseph Romano, a sister, Dorothy Forbes of Norwalk, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Brillo. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
