Obituary of Laura Mastroianni

Laura DelVecchio Mastroianni, age 78, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Nick Mastroianni. Born in Castel Franco in Miscano, Benevento, Italy on February 28, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Petrucelli DelVecchio. Dedicated to her faith, she taught catechism in her home town; had the honor of receiving communion from Saint Pio; and Laura and Nick were proud first recipients of the Medal of St. Augustine in 2005 for their dedication to St. Margaret's Shrine and the St. Anthony Feast. At the Feast, she tirelessly cooked for the setup staff, worked under the Pizza Fritta tent and sold Luigi's Pastry. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her beloved husband of 57 years, Nick, survivors include her children, John F. Mastroianni and his wife Annie of Southington, Daniel A. Mastroianni and his wife Nancy of Norwalk, Maryanne Mastroianni of Bridgeport, Frank N. Mastroianni of Fairfield and Sr. Diane Mastroianni, ASCJ of Manhattan, four cherished grandchildren, Danielle, William, Thomas and Nick, two great granddaughters, Amarissa and Meliya, a sister, Dina Magliocco and her husband Renato of Bridgeport, a nephew Renato, niece Maria and late nephew Anthony. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, December 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
