Obituary of Giovanna Tufaro

Giovanna Tufaro, age 75, of Summerville, SC and formerly of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, SC. She was the beloved wife of Vincent Tufaro. Born in Portico, Caserta, Italy on January 1, 1941, she was a daughter of Angelo Antonio and Angelina Munno Ruotolo.

She loved all things food related from cooking to canning, to making homemade pasta and sausage, feeding anyone that would walk through the door. She enjoyed spending hours in her garden and looked forward each year to spending the winter at their home in Florida.

In addition to her beloved husband of 56 years, Vincent, survivors include her children, Anthony Tufaro and his wife Cathy of Palm Beach, FL, Angelo Tufaro of Jupiter, FL, Josephine Hanrahan and her husband James of Summerville, SC, Pasquale Tufaro and his wife Laura of Derby, CT, nine grandchildren, Vincent Tufaro of Knoxville, TN, Staff Sergeant Matthew Tufaro and his wife Kristen of Clarksville, TN, Alyssa Gonzalez-Rivera and her husband Senior Airman Rafael of Las Vegas, NV, Nicole Tufaro of Shelton, CT, Isabella Tufaro of Derby, CT, Juliana, Christina, Mitchell and Michaela Hanrahan of Summerville, SC, three great grandchildren, Christopher and Nicolas Tufaro and Gabriel Gonzalez-Rivera, four sisters, Maria, Rosetta, Madeline and Gaetana, a brother, Sebastiano as well as many nieces, and nephews, all of Italy.

Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for the staff at Trident Medical Center. At our time of need, the care and compassion we received was overwhelming. We thank you.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd, Trumbull.
