Obituary of John Amato

John Amato, age 79, of Stratford passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sharron Waltersdorf Amato. Born in Trumbull on January 20, 1937 he was a son of the late Michael and Theresa Muzio Amato. A U.S. Army veteran, he had served honorably during the Korean War. Mr. Amato was employed by the former Herman Isaac's Company as a truck driver with many years of dedicated service. He was also employed by the City of Bridgeport as a sweeper for a period of time. He was an avid fisherman, and found great enjoyment on trips to the casino and buying "scratch offs". His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent picnicking with his family at Sunnyside Park. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, Sharron, other survivors include his loving daughters, Kimberly Amato and her companion Robert Simpson of Seymour and Stacy Amato of Stratford, his grandson, Michael Amato and his girlfriend Stacy Ishack, his brothers, Felix and Dominic Amato and his sister, MaryLou Amato, all of Trumbull. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
