Obituary of Emanuele S. Bordonaro

Emanuele S. "Manny" Bordonaro, age 94, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Connecticut Hospice, in Branford. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Manny honorably served the country during World War II. He received two Purple Heart medals and a Bronze Star for his bravery. Manny was a member of the VFW Post 10466 in Shelton. After 35 years of dedicated service in the Metallurgy Lab, Manny retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. After retiring, Manny continued to be an avid bowler, take pride in his many gardens, and support his two favorite teams, the New York Mets and Giants. Manny was always ready with a joke, helping hand, or kind words. He showed everyone he met there is always a reason to smile. Manny was born in Sicily, Italy on May 3, 1922, to the late Michael and Francesca Gionfriddo Bordonaro. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Tina Frasca Bordonaro, as well as their two children, Susan Bordonaro-Berthold of Huntington, and Robert E. Bordonaro and his wife Denise of Spokane, WA. Manny will continue to be cherished by his treasured grandchildren, Matthew R. Berthold and his wife Erin, Tanner R. Bordonaro, and Francesca A. "Franki" Bordonaro. Other survivors include his brother-in-law, Orazio "Sonny" Frasca and his wife Sharon, as well as several nieces and nephews: Michael Bordonaro and his wife Gloria, Robert Frasca and his wife Monica, Karrie Frasca Beaulieu and her husband Gary. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Bordonaro and his wife Lucy, and his sister, Lucy Colombo and her husband Anthony. A private funeral service will be celebrated at a later date. The family would like to send its gratitude to the CT Visiting Nurse Services, Bishop Wicke Health & Rehabilitation Center of Shelton, and Connecticut Hospice, Branford, CT. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
