Obituary of Eleanor M. Benefico

Eleanor Musco Benefico, age 94, of Trumbull, beloved wife of late Anthony Benefico Sr., passed away on July 20, 2016. Born in Bridgeport on June 27, 1922, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah Vena Musco. Survivors include her devoted son, Anthony Benefico Jr., and her brother Vincent Musco of Trumbull as well as several nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Musco and her sisters, Domenica Musco Vittorio, Mary Musco, Angela Musco and Antoinette Congro. Eleanor resided in Bridgeport for many years prior to moving to Trumbull. To her husband and son, she was a shining light and a pillar of strength. Her words of encouragement, wisdom and faith were always present for her husband, son and family. Eleanor was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. She attended Staples School and was a 1939 graduate of Warren Harding High School. She was a former employee of Acme Shears and Nordens. Eleanor was a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church and a member of the Seniors. She was a president of the Schwaben Ladies Auxilliary and served as a secretary for many years for the Germania Schwaben Seniors. She was an active member of the Holy Rosary Seniors and the Trumbull Senior Center. She was also a member of the National AARP, the Council of Italian American Societies of Greater Bridgeport and a member for many years of the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal. Eleanor was a very considerate, beautiful and special person to all who knew her. When she passed away, a caring and wonderful heart stopped beating. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
