Obituary of Rosario Caruso

Rosario "Sarge" Caruso, age 90, beloved husband of Gloria Ann Najjoum Caruso of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Atria Stratford. Born in Bridgeport on April 2, 1926, he was a son of the late Giovanne and Lena Scapaletti Caruso. Sarge graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1944 and went on to proudly serve his country for two years in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war he graduated from the Culinary Institute and worked as a cook at Cobbs Mill and the Woodbridge Country Club. Before his retirement he was a firefighter with the City of Bridgeport with 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Bridgeport area Firefighters, the Knights of Columbus where he was a Past Grand Knight of the Fr. Regan Council 3300 of East Haven and is currently a member of the Msgr. Mooney Council 13228 of Stratford. In addition to his wife Gloria Ann of 65 years, survivors include his three loving daughters, Deborah Paolillo and her husband Alphonse of Norwich, Kathleen Phillips of Lake Forest, CA, Sharron McFadden and her husband Desmond of Milford, and five cherished grandchildren, Marisa Paolillo, Ryan (Jessica) Phillips, Austin Phillips, Zackary McFadden and Alishia McFadden, two great granddaughters, Stella and Delilah as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Caruso and three sisters, Angie Gargano, Carolyn Terepka and Rose Pappariello. Friends are invited to meet directly in Our Lady of Grace Church Parish Center, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
