Obituary of Dorothy K. Freer

Dorothy K. Freer, age 89, of Oxford, beloved wife of the late Richard L. Freer Sr. passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016 at Griffin Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Bridgeport on July 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John Kwiatkowski and Mary Bokina. Dorothy worked as a secretary for Sikorsky Aircraft for over 26 years before her retirement in 1997. An avid bowler, she enjoyed watching game shows and cooking as well as hosting holiday gatherings. However, her greatest pleasure she found was the time she spent with her family. Survivors include her beloved children, Beverly Henderson and her husband Red of Wallingford, Myrold (Butch) Freer and his wife Theresa of Milford, Richard L Freer Jr. and his wife Ann of Naugatuck, Rosemary Renzi and her husband Robert of Monroe, Gary Freer and his fiancé Gail Deaso of Naugatuck, Wayne Freer Sr. of Oxford, Michael Freer and his wife Patti of York, PA. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is also predeceased by a son, Ronald Freer, a granddaughter, Christine Freer, and her 3 sisters, Hedwig Niemczyk, Helen Slomski, and Jeanne Jones. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Hwy, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
