Obituary of Rita A. Prusasky

Rita A. Prusasky, age 87, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Friday November 20, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Philip J. Prusasky. Born in Stratford on February 21, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Nemec. Rita worked for Singer in Bridgeport as well as the former Bridgeport Post. Once Rita had a family of her own, her work switched to their care and well-being. Rita found great enjoyment reading and crocheting. She would crochet afghans for all family members, while also finding the time to crochet them for others. She also never missed the opportunity to post on Facebook or play the free slot machines. She was a loving and amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whose most joyous times in life were spent with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who in her eyes could do no wrong and "kept her young". Rita will always be remembered for putting the needs of everyone else before her own. Survivors include her loving children, Doris DelVecchio and her husband John of Stratford, Michael Prusasky and his wife Elaine of Trumbull, Diane DeMattia and her husband Tony of Stratford and Karen Hutchinson and her husband Donald of Monroe, her nine cherished grandchildren, Doreen Haas and her husband Michael, John DelVecchio and his wife Maria, Anthony DelVecchio, Sarah Prusasky, Lisa Prusasky, Michele Scholz and her husband Stephen, Jennifer DeMattia, Brooke Hutchinson and her fiancé Chad Cornut and Brittany Hutchinson and her fiancé Jeffrey Blees, her adored great grandchildren, Charlotte and Christian Haas, Daniel and David DelVecchio, Stephen Anthony, Juliana, Trevor and William Scholz and Emily Cornut, her brothers, Edward Nemec and his wife Rose Ellen and Albert Nemec, her sister, Betty Kubicko and her husband Richard as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Rita was predeceased by a grandson, Donald P. Hutchinson, twin great grandchildren, Hailey and Cameron Scholz, a brother, Martin Nemec and sisters, Beatrice Nemec, Julie Palier and Anna Mae Bogdanyi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
