Obituary of Miguel A. Martinez

Miguel Angel Martinez, age 74, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Gladys Estrella Arce Martinez, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born on May 13, 1941 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico he was a son of the late Santos and Pietra Diaz Martinez. Well respected and deeply loved, he was a hardworking man who put his family first and most cherished spending time with them, especially his wife, Gladys. He also enjoyed classic cars, Saturday morning cartoons, cooking and his Mets. He loved spending time outdoors, tending to his wife's plants, and their pets. He was predeceased by a grandson, Gabriel Martinez and a sister Ana Quiles. In addition to his beloved wife of 48 years, Gladys, survivors include three loving children, Alexandra Martinez and her husband Ricardo Rodriguez of Bridgeport, Felix Martinez and his wife Ana of Trumbull, Dennis Martinez of Trumbull and Sandra Martinez, along with six cherished grandchildren; Alexis Medina, Connor and Brenden Martinez, and Joval, Joana and Joseph Acosta, and one great granddaughter, Jordyn Gains. He also leaves a brother, Samuel Martinez and four sisters, Amelia Martinez, Julia Martinez, Maria Guzman all of Puerto Rico and Nereida Yepez of Fairfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. The Martinez family would like to extend their gratitude to the home care aids, the nurses and staff of the Ludlowe Center For Health & Rehabilitation, and the physicians, nurses and aids of St. Vincent's Medical Center who showed Miguel and our family respect, love, and compassion, and who now share in our grief. Let's not mourn his death, but celebrate his life. We find comfort in the faith that he now rests peacefully with our Lord and is again surrounded by his loved ones; we will keep him in our hearts and in our prayers. Visitors may pay their respect during calling hours on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 between 4pm and 8pm in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
