Obituary of Dorothy C. Stein

Dorothy Mazzadra Stein, age 96, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late John F. (Jack) Stein, passed peacefully, Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Health Care Center. Born in Stratford, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Antonio and Corrine Zega Mazzadra. Dorothy graduated cum laude from Stratford H.S. and modeled for Barbizon Modeling School in New York City. After World War II, she met and fell in love and married her husband, John, and they were married 59 years until his passing 10 years ago. Her love for singing was evident in her life as she was a member of the Singing Sweethearts in earlier years. Dorothy was a secretary at the Bridgeport Brass Company for over 20 years until they closed and she then retired. Her love for singing continued throughtout the years, her singing a song or two with family friend, Don Peluso, at local restaurants which brought such joy to her later years in life. Dorothy was a devoted and loving mother, nana, and great grandmother to her three children, John Stein, Jr. and his wife Georgia, of Milford, Darlene Nuzzo and her husband Lou of Shelton, and Donna Patterson and her fiance Jerry Iannucci of Bridgeport, and her treasured grandchildren, John Stein, III and wife Kellie, Scott Stein and wife Lori, Kim Phillips and Greg, Jenna Marie Rua and her husband Justino, Louis Nuzzo, Jr. and Miriam, Melissa Brownbill and her husband Lee, Jennifer Kluchnick and her husband Pete, and eight adored great grandchildren, Christopher and Kalya Gyger, James Phillips, Justin Stein, Antonio Joseph Rua, Lee Brownbill, II, Alyvia and Aiden Kluchnick, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 brothers, William, Frank, Angelo, Louis and John Mazzadra and two sisters, Rose Bacchiocchi and Angelina Giliotti. The family wishes to thank Lord Chamberlain for their dedicated care by the nurses and CNA's, and Lisa Lee, her dedicated APRN, who made her life comfortable this past year. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in the Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning, Oct. 1, 2015 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Catholic prayer service at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
