Thomas Dwight Nickse, age 58, of Shelton, CT, holed his final putt of life on Friday May 22, 2015, at Bishop Wicke Health Center with his loved ones by his side. Tommy was born in Derby, CT, son of the late Margaret L. (Reynolds) and H. Tom Nickse. Tom leaves a daughter, Anna Marie Nickse of Trumbull, the light of his life. Tom is a graduate of Shelton High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from University of Southern Mississippi. Tom was a member of Huntington Congregational Church. Upon graduation, Tom worked in various sales positions in the northeast and midwest, settling in Kansas City, MO. He later returned to his hometown of Shelton and worked as a manager at Jones Family Farms for over 15 years. Tom loved the outdoors and his life on the farm. He was an accomplished and avid skier and golfer. He played on the golf team in high school and college and as a young man won many tournaments at Brownson Country Club, his home away from home. Tommy had varied interests and was good at most everything he set his hand to including basketball, croquet, badminton, football, ice skating, billiards, ping pong, etc., not to mention countless card games. In addition to his daughter Anna, Tom leaves his siblings Cindy, Jeff, Jay and Bruce, his dear life-long friends and neighbors Ellen and Susan, six nieces and many cousins and friends. Tom also leaves fellow residents and staff of Bishop Wicke where he spent the past 21 months of his long illness. Tom received outstanding care and compassion from the Bishop Wicke staff during this special time. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 am at Calvary Church, 498 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
