Obituary of Joseph D. De Carlo

Joseph D. De Carlo, age 89, of Monroe and formerly of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth T. Izzo De Carlo, died peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2015 in St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Ashtabula, OH on December 9, 1925, he was a son of the late Antonio and Mary Napolitano De Carlo. Joseph was a U.S. Army World War II veteran serving in France and Germany in the Corps of Engineering. He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics in NY and the University of Bridgeport with an Engineering Degree. Before his retirement he was a Mechanical Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft from 1951 to 1991 where he was awarded three patents for propulsion design. Mr. De Carlo was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Church in Bridgeport and served as a lector for many years. Survivors include three loving children, two daughters, Ann De Carlo Melli and her husband Michael, Jr. of Trumbull and Nanette De Carlo Seperack and her husband Paul of Monroe, a son, Anthony De Carlo and his wife Theresa of Stratford, 12 grandchildren, Michael Melli III and his wife Sanskruti, Christopher Melli and his wife Jo Anna, Philip and Elizabeth Seperack, Brian, Rocco and his wife Kelsey, Steven and his wife Kelly and Samantha Ceci, three great grandchildren, Aliyah, Jeremiah and Gabriel, very special family friends, Russell Dostilio and his wife Tracy, as well as several special nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Ann De Carlo, brothers, Frank and Philip and sisters, Rose and Annamae. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude Church, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow with full military honors in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
