Obituary of Elsie M. Ligouri

Elsie M. DelVecchio Ligouri, age 96, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Louis P. Ligouri, passed away peacefully on Friday January 30, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on September 10, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Francesco and Josephine Roberti DelVecchio. Elsie was a retired seamstress having worked at the former Panitieri Shirt Co. for many years and was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a member of the St. Theresa Seniors, Trumbull AARP, and volunteered at both St. Vincent's Medical Center and the Barnum Festival. She enjoyed making pizzelles, playing cards and bingo with her partners, Adeline and Sara. But above all she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne D'Agostino, grandson, Christopher Lottier, a sister, Ida DeSalle, brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Lucy DelVecchio, and son-in-law, Edward Bonner. Survivors include, a son James Ligouri and his wife Jeanette of Atkinson, New Hampshire, a daughter, Judith Bonner of Bridgeport, four grandchildren, Gregory D'Agostino Jr. and Jennifer Criscuolo, Stephen D'Agostino and his wife Lisa, Karen Olenski and her husband Timothy and Brenda Kollmer, five great grandchildren, son-in-law, Gregory D'Agostino Sr., a sister, Lora Bartult of Trumbull, as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her dedicated caregiver, Molly. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Swim Across the Sound c/o St. Vincent's Medical Foundation, 2800 Main St. Bridgeport, CT 06606.
