Obituary of James J. Macauda

James J. Macauda, age 92, of Westport, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janice Biazzo Macauda. Born in Bridgeport on November 27, 1921, he was a son of the late Angelo and Concettina Bellamattina Macauda. A graduate of Harding High in 1939, he also was a U.S. Army Veteran during World War II and served as an MP at the Nuremberg Trials in Germany for Nazi war criminals. He later became the owner of Macauda's Market, formerly of Bridgeport, which was opened in 1921. James was also a huge fan of both the New York Giants and New York Mets. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife, Janice of 71 years, other survivors include his children, Maryanne Freeman and her husband Richard, James A. Macauda and his wife Maria, Robert J. Macauda, Marlene Macauda and her husband Wynne Bohonnon, David J. Macauda and his wife Sandra and John C. Macauda and his wife Nancy, his brother Angelo Macauda and his wife Mary and a sister-in-law, Elaine Macauda. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Marlena Brucato, Amie Perez, Adrianna Ritota, Max Macauda, Marcus Dierna, Molly Young, Liam Bohonnon, Jacalyn Macauda and John Macauda, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Santo Macauda. The family would like to extend a special thank you to James's caregivers Yolanda and Pam. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Luke's Church, 84 Long Lots Rd., Westport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, P.O.
