Obituary of Florence L. Tatroe

Florence L. Solemene Tatroe, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Joseph Tatroe Sr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Born in Bridgeport on April 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Cipriani Solemene. Mrs. Tatroe was a retired employee of the former Wheeler Wire Co. A lifelong Bridgeport resident, she enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting. An expert seamstress, Florence made many clothing items and blankets for her family and friends. But above all else she was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cared for and loved her family. Her love and care will continue to live in all and she will be deeply missed by everyone. In addition to her beloved husband of 72 years, Joseph, survivors include four loving children, Joanne Bagley and her husband William of Milford, Robert M. Tatroe and his wife Karen of Chandler, AZ, Joseph Tatroe Jr. and his wife Jayne of Ansonia and James Tatroe and his companion Linda Silk of Norwalk, her twin brother, Frank Solemene of Bridgeport; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Carmen Solemene and a sister, Angeline Maronich. Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 12:30 p.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Home for the Elderly 175 Jefferson St., Fairfield, CT 06825. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
