Obituary of Lt. Col. Raymond L. Milyo

Lt. Col. Raymond L. Milyo, age 86, beloved husband of Evelyn Scala Milyo of Trumbull, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014, surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on January 7, 1928, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary Andrasko Milyo. Raymond Milyo enlisted in the United States Army at age seventeen and served overseas in Okinawa, Korea and Germany. During the Korean conflict, he was awarded a combat infantry badge, five battle stars and the Bronze Star for Valor. Milyo was the commandant of the 25th Infantry Division in Fort Dix, New Jersey and retired from the military after 22 years of service. His second career was in finance and real estate. Raymond Milyo was the vice president of the Investors Mortgage Company in Bridgeport, president of the Greater Bridgeport Board of Realtors, and director of the Multiple Listing Service. He also taught a computer “boot camp” for local Realtors. Raymond Milyo lived for his family and for the last several years, he dedicated himself to the care of his beloved wife, Evelyn; his selfless devotion, patience and tenderness for her was heroic. In addition to his wife Evelyn of 62 years, survivors include his three sons, Raymond Milyo Jr. of Trumbull, Douglas Milyo and his wife Teresa of Shelton and Jeffrey Milyo and his wife Lynn of Columbia, Missouri, seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Breanne, Austin, Keana, Audrey, Luke and Natasha, two great granddaughters, Emma and Abigail, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Milyo, a grandson, Evan Milyo and two brothers, Andrew and George Milyo. Friends are invited to meet directly in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 White Plains Rd., Trumbull on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. for a Funeral Service. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Trumbull, CT.
