Obituary of Daniel John Colombo

Daniel John Colombo, 68, passed away suddenly on July 21, 2014, in Dallas, TX. He was born on July 23, 1946, in Yonkers, NY, to Norma Yoli Colombo and Patrick Colombo, who lived in the Bronx, NY. In 1951, the family moved to New Hyde Park, NY. Daniel attended Sewanhakha High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball. At Nassau Community College he played on a National Championship baseball team. He was honored by Nassau Community for his outstanding athletic achievements in 2012. He later graduated from St. John's University and went on to play professional baseball as a third baseman for the Detroit Tigers AAA team. Later in life he was a well-known restauranteur and club owner. He is survived by his wife Vicky Colombo, daughter Danielle Colombo Truini, her husband Brian and daughter Virginia Colombo, step-daughter Amy Cintron and her husband Johnny. He is also survived by his parents Patrick and Norma Colombo, sister Patricia Ryanczak and her husband Tony, brother Robert Colombo and his wife Rozalyn, Patrick Colombo and his wife Catherine. He has two beloved granddaughters, Ava and Alexa Truini and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a beloved aunt Barbara and Uncle Mike. Friends can greet the family on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
