Obituary of Camelia Colon Medina

Camelia Colon Medina, age 88, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Jose Dimas Medina, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Felix Colon and Baudilia Perez Colon. Before her retirement, Camelia was a stock room supervisor at Interstate Uniform for over 25 years. Camelia was known for her ever-present smile and her genuine, warm personality. Her loving, gentle nature was surpassed only by her profound faith, strength of character and fearlessness in the face of life's adversities. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness for 56 years and was associated with the Madison Spanish Congregation in Bridgeport. Sharing her faith by teaching others about the Bible brought her great fulfillment and happiness. Camelia found great joy in helping others and sharing her legendary cooking skills. She was adored by her family and delighted in visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To all who knew and loved her, "Wita" was a model of patience, integrity, loyalty and love. Survivors include a daughter, Myrta Cicero and her husband Frank of Trumbull, two sons, Dimas Medina and his wife Joann of Derby and Israel Medina and his wife Linda of Virginia Beach, two brothers, Israel Colon and his wife Carmen of Florida and Wilfredo Colon and his wife Anna of Puerto Rico, two sisters, Aurea Diaz of Derby and Edna Rosado and her husband Hector of Florida, a sister-in-law, Julie Colon of Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren, Frank Cicero and his wife Stacey, Diana Hanley and her husband Timothy, Laura Bauer and her husband Paul, Linda Cicero, Nathan Medina and his wife Stephanie, Joshua Medina and his fiancé Elena Torres, Michael and Laura Medina, and Giovani Medina; seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Nicolas, Anna and Emily Bauer, Jules and Evelyn Cicero and Gianna Medina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also shared a loving relationship with Ellen, Anton and Eric Hanley. She was pre-deceased by sons, Jose Dimas and Russell Medina, daughter, Emma Kovach, grandson, Brian Kovach, brothers, Felix and Russell Colon, sister, Adelaide Cardona and brother-in-law, Genaro Diaz. Friends may greet the family on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A memorial talk will take place on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Ave., Bridgeport, family and friends may gather at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
