Obituary of Gordon Rogers Sinclair

Gordon Rogers Sinclair, age 78, of Trumbull, died Sunday, April 17, 2005 in his home of heart failure. A longtime resident of Trumbull, Mr. Sinclair was born on May 18, 1926 in Springfield, Massachusetts, son of Percival and Gladys (Rogers) Sinclair, and grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. After graduating from Wilbraham Academy, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II. Following his military service he earned degrees from Tufts and Purdue Universities and later the University of Connecticut School of Law. Mr. Sinclair began his long career in industrial relations at Bridgeport Brass Company in 1950. He joined the Kerite Company in 1977, retiring in 1990. A resident of Trumbull for more than 50 years, Mr. Sinclair had served on the towns Civil Service Board.

He is survived by his five children, Leslie Sinclair of Reston, Virginia, Martha FitzMaurice and her husband, Daniel of Farmington, Clayton Sinclair of Southbury, Glenn Sinclair of Boston, Massachusetts and Heather Cowley and her husband, Steven of Wellesley, Massachusetts. He also leaves seven cherished grandchildren, Emilie, Devin and Molly FitzMaurice and Dylan, Hannah, Benjamin and Caroline Cowley. A person of engaging intellectual curiosity and a lover of words, history, literature, cooking, genealogy, walks in the woods and above all his family, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as we carry on the many family traditions he began.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Friends may call before the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
